Syracuse University ACHA hockey has announced their schedule for the upcoming 2022-23 season. The Orange will open their campaign at home with a 2 game set against Kent State on Friday, September 23rd at 7PM and Saturday, September 24th at 2PM.
SU will play a 14 game conference schedule in the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League this season with the league expanding to 8 teams this past summer. The ESCHL added Niagara University and the University of Pittsburgh over the off season - the Orange will take on both opponents on the road this season. With the addition of NU and Pitt each team in the ESCHL will now play one another 2 times throughout the regular season instead of the 4 game format that was used in 2021-22. Despite the change, 'Cuse still has Rhode Island, Drexel, and Delaware on the schedule 4 times this season - only the first game of each 2 game set will count toward the ESCHL conference standings.
Syracuse will play 12 games against 7 different out-of-conference opponents this season. This includes 2 games sets with Kent State, the University at Buffalo, Oswego State, Robert Morris University, and Rutgers University. 'Cuse also has contests slated against Villanova University and the College of New Jersey - who will play their inaugural season at the ACHA's division I level this upcoming year. The Orange will play a lone Thursday night game this season when they take on Oswego State on the road in the front half of a home and home series against the Lakers.
Syracuse will welcome back past members of the club when they host NYU for Hall of Fame Alumni Weekend on November 5th & 6th. The Orange will host Senior Day on Sunday, February 12th against the University of Delaware before concluding their regular season the following weekend with a 2 game set at the University of Rhode Island.
The full 32 game schedule can be found below or by clicking here. All home games are played at the Tennity Ice Pavilion and are free to attend for both students and the general public. A 2022-23 printable schedule poster can also be found here.
